Help
First steps
- You start with one machine and 8,000 credits.
- Open your machine from the Overview and upgrade its modules. Ads earns from the start, and the MoneyMarket opens the larger income modules.
- Every hour your income modules pay into the machine. The BucksBunker caps what one machine can hold.
- Run a Remote Scan on a machine before you act on it: it shows what the machine runs and who holds it.
- Create or join a cluster when you are ready: a cluster shares a treasury, a board and what its members have seen.
Acts
Every act starts from one of your machines and takes time to arrive. Before you commit, the quote shows its price, how long it takes and the heat it will draw.
| Act | What it does | Needs | Compute | Heat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remote Scan | Reads what a machine runs and who holds it. | Nothing | 0 | 0.5 |
| Defacement | Writes your words on the machine's public description. | Trojan 1 | 60 | 4 |
| Trojan Transfer | Takes 20% of the credits on the machine, more when its owner is bigger than you and less when smaller. | Trojan 1 | 80 | 6 |
| Trojan Deactivate | Switches one of the machine's modules off for a while. | Trojan 5 | 150 | 8 |
| Remote Smash | Breaks levels off one of the machine's modules. | Malware kit 5 | 200 | 12 |
| Breach | Takes levels off the machine's firewall and holds it open to your Remote Hijack for 16 hours. | Remote Hijack 5 | 300 | 10 |
| Remote Hijack | Takes the machine once its firewall is open to you. | Remote Hijack 10 | 500 | 14 |
| Forensics | Runs on your own machine after an attack and may name whoever did it. | Nothing | 120 | 0 |
A Trojan Transfer always leaves 10% of a machine's credits behind.
Compute
Each level of cpu adds 100 to your compute pool. Every running module level holds 1 of it, and an upgrade or an act holds more until it lands. Upgrading the cpu never waits for compute: it is what adds compute.
What opens what
| Opens | Needs |
|---|---|
| Defacement | Trojan 1 |
| Trojan Transfer | Trojan 1 |
| Trojan Deactivate | Trojan 5 |
| Remote Smash | Malware kit 5 |
| Breach | Remote Hijack 5 |
| Remote Hijack | Remote Hijack 10 |
| Building Dialer | MoneyMarket 4 |
| Building Auctions | MoneyMarket 8 |
| Building Bank | MoneyMarket 12 |
A module goes up to 2 levels for each level of ram, and never past 20.
How high a module goes
| Module | Goes up to |
|---|---|
| Malware kit, Firewall, IDS, Anti-virus, Response | 2 times your SDK level |
| IP-Spoofing, Trojan, Remote Hijack | 2 times your SDK level and 2 times your malware kit level |
| MoneyMarket, Ads, Dialer, Auctions, Bank | 4 times your CPU level |
Heat
Hostile acts draw heat, and it cools by 1.4 an hour.
- Investigation from 40: your acts cost 50% more.
- Surveillance from 65: every act you take is signed with your name.
- Seizure from 85: one machine other than your home goes offline for 6 hours and your heat falls back to 60.
Protection
- Nobody can attack a new player for their first 21 days, until they take their first machine, or until they attack another player, whichever comes first.
- For your first 21 days in your block, nobody outside it can touch you, and you cannot reach outside it.
- Vacation mode covers you while you are away, up to 30 days a year. Switch it on in Settings.
- An account nobody signs in to for 30 days is closed.
- One player holds at most 100 machines.
- Each machine you hold makes your next Remote Hijack 7.7% dearer, and the machine you run it from pays all of it.
- After you take a machine, the next can follow 3 days later, or 5 days later once you hold 10 machines.
Clusters
A cluster has up to 32 members. Its founder and officers invite, set roles, spend the treasury and open Distributed Attacks the members commit their machines to.
Clusters make pacts and go to war with each other, and hold ground in the city together.
Questions
- Why was my act refused?
- The game says why under the button you pressed: a module that is not high enough, grace, vacation, your cluster or a pact.
- Why have my credits stopped growing?
- The BucksBunker is full. The machine's own page shows how full it is.
- Somebody attacked me. What can I do?
- Run forensics on the machine that was hit to learn who it was, raise its firewall, and keep fewer credits on it than a thief would want.
- May I play a second account?
- No. One account per person, as the rules say.
- What happens while I am away?
- Your machines keep earning and can be attacked. Vacation mode covers you for up to 30 days a year.
- How do I report somebody?
- Use Report beside their name, their message or their post. A moderator reads every report.
